A new minimalist init system for Linux, named Nitro, is currently under active development. This project aims to provide a lightweight alternative to more complex init systems like systemd. While still in its early stages, Nitro is designed to be simple, fast, and easy to understand, targeting users who prefer a more streamlined and transparent boot process. The development of Nitro reflects a continuing interest in the Linux community for minimalist and modular software that adheres to the Unix philosophy of "doing one thing and doing it well". As the project matures, it will be interesting to see how it is adopted by various Linux distributions and how it competes with other established init systems.
