The OPNsense project has released version 24.7, "Thriving Tiger," a significant update to the open-source firewall platform. This release features a redesigned dashboard, enhanced system trust MVC/API support, and several new networking features, including GRE and GIF support, NAT 1-to-1 MVC/API, a WireGuard QR code generator, and dynamic IPsec VTI tunnels. Additionally, the update includes experimental support for OpenVPN DCO, and updates to FreeBSD 14.1 and Python 3.11. The release also incorporates numerous security and reliability fixes, and updates to various plugins such as acme-client, caddy, freeradius, haproxy, mdns-repeater, squid, and tailscale. The project continues its stable release cycle, with version 25.1 scheduled for January 29, 2025.
