WebFinger-to-DID Bridge: A Technical Specification (Draft)

This document outlines a technical specification for a bridge between the WebFinger protocol and the AT Protocol's Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs).

1. Introduction

This document proposes a standardized method for linking a human-readable WebFinger address to a cryptographic AT Protocol DID. This will enhance interoperability between the two systems, allowing for a more seamless user experience.

2. Goals

To define a clear and concise protocol for WebFinger-to-DID resolution. To ensure the security and integrity of the resolution process. To provide a reference implementation for developers.

3. Technical Details

This section will detail the proposed technical implementation of the bridge.

3.1. WebFinger Resource: A new rel value will be defined for the WebFinger JRD (JSON Resource Descriptor) to specify the AT Protocol DID. 3.2. DID Document: The AT Protocol DID document will be updated to include a reference to the corresponding WebFinger address. 3.3. Resolution Process: A step-by-step process for resolving a WebFinger address to a DID will be outlined.

4. Collaborative Notes

This section is for our collaborative notes and discussion.
