Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick has put the Pentagon on notice: anyone who tries to limit Starshield for Ukraine will be investigated and held accountable. A Republican congressman is now openly threatening his own administration's agencies over a satellite throttle.

What He Promised

Fitzpatrick says he will speak with Zelensky and his team this week about Starshield, sanctions and the defense of Ukraine. His message to Kyiv is blunt. Any official or agency that curbs Ukrainian use of Starshield faces:

He also says Congress will reaffirm Ukraine as an indispensable ally and Russia as a declared enemy. The US, in his words, must provide any defensive equipment Ukraine needs.

The Oil Bill

The Starshield pledge comes bundled with a legislative plan. Fitzpatrick is pushing the Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act, a bipartisan measure to block every purchase of Russian oil. His line: not a single drop. He wants sanctions on the Russian regime harsher than ever, and he intends to bring each item to the House floor.

The route matters. The bill goes through a discharge petition, which needs 218 signatures to bypass committee and the speaker. Here's how to force a vote when leadership would rather avoid one. It targets the Trump-Putin diesel deal directly, since US law already bans Russian energy imports and the waiver cuts against it.

Why This Lands Now

Starshield terminals in Ukraine were reportedly throttled at high speeds. Musk pointed at the US military, the government and the president. The White House blamed a technical fault and told reporters to ask SpaceX. Senator Thom Tillis called for an inquiry, saying the problem may have originated inside Pentagon systems, and Don Bacon accused the administration of aiding an aggressor.

Fitzpatrick's threat is the sharpest version yet. It names the budget as the weapon, the one thing bureaucrats and the Pentagon actually listen to. Ukrainian air defense paid for the slowdown with a night of carnage in Kyiv. Now the funders of these agencies are saying the next budget cut will cost someone their job. He closes on Reagan and says Ukraine can and will defeat Russia.

Anyone who tries to limit Starshield for Ukraine will be investigated and held accountable.
