The Real Target Is Turnout
The real target is turnout, not votes. Kremlin-linked sources have been explicit: the task is to dry up participation against the background of the war and fuel problems. A half-empty precinct with bused-in state employees and remote electronic voting is the desired outcome. It removes the need to explain why real people stayed home.

The practical consequence is straightforward. If you are inside Russia and skip the event, the administration thanks you. You have made the operation easier. If you do show up, you create a problem, because the Kremlin needs a controlled, low-energy result. The goal is not to win the election. The goal is for the election to disappear as a political event.
The War Is Not Decided in Polling Stations
The claim that the vote will answer those who want to weaken Russia is pure projection. The war is not being decided in polling stations. It is being decided by Ukrainian drones reaching Yamal, by the collapse of the Svyatogorsk narrative, and by the slow erosion of the imperial project. The election is a ritual to manage the domestic audience while the front consumes the state.
Putin cannot stop the war because the war is the source of his power.
A million men coming home would ask what they fought for. The election is designed to postpone this question.
