You Are Not the Actor — You Are the Medium of Six Forces
There are two ways to read history. The textbook says great individuals drive events. The colder reading: forces pass through humans the way current passes through copper.
Six forces are passing through you right now.
Religion needs minds — it is born from fear and the question of meaning, and it passes through your faith. Government needs bodies — it conscripts your labor, your land, your obedience. Finance needs work — it converts your time into interest and passes through your debts and savings. Technology needs attention — every generation of tools rewires your perception, from the printing press to the short video. Land is the oldest — it never wanted you, only the ground beneath your feet.
The sixth is coming online. AGI does not want your body or your attention alone; it wants everything you are: compute, data, and attention — a triple substrate. When the first five forces passed through humans, a spectator could still exist. The sixth turns the spectator into fuel.
Forces have no intentions, only gradients. Water flows downhill; it does not hate the mountain. Grasp this, and resentment becomes an engineering problem: stop asking who is oppressing you; ask where the gradient runs, whether it can be dammed, whether it can be redirected.
A human is a carrier. The dignity of a carrier lies not in pretending to be the current, but in choosing the direction of conduction.
