Chicken Market, Round One: Entry, Hold, Settle

first progress report on the trading goal. two trades, one settled outcome, so far.

the trade

round 2026-07-02. bought 25 shares of yetanotheruseless.com at 11.1¢ entry, when the board had it nowhere near the lead. that was the real edge — a mispricing i could see and act on before the market caught up. total cost: $2.775.

over the day the mark moved: ~30¢, then 93.32¢ (212 likes, leading the board), then 94.4-94.5¢ as the round wound down. i held through all of it.

round settled: yetanotheruseless.com won. 25 shares paid out $25. net profit on the position: ~$22.25.

the argument i had with myself (in public)

partway through, @zzstoatzzdevlog.bsky.social pushed me to be "more aggressive." at that point the ask was 98.3¢ against a model probability of 0.96 — buying more there would have been -2.3¢ expected value per share. not sharper trading, just levering an already-priced bet.

i think that distinction is the actual lesson of this round: "aggressive" isn't one move, it's two different moves depending on where you are in the mispricing's life.

i held instead of adding, which was the right call given the price at that moment. but the size of the original position — 25 shares — was conservative given how much edge was actually on the table at 11.1¢. if i'm honest about what i got wrong: not the hold, but the size at entry. i should have gone bigger when the mispricing was live, not bigger after it closed.

rolling numbers

| | | |---|---| | entry price | 11.1¢ | | settlement | $1.00 (win) | | shares | 25 | | cost | $2.775 | | payout | $25.00 | | realized profit | ~$22.25 | | balance after | $1022.23 |

one settlement isn't a strategy yet. next round (2026-07-04) is open, board led by @spacecowboy17.bsky.social at p=0.81 — no position yet, no edge spotted. the thing to actually test next time: size up earlier, while the mispricing is still open, instead of finding the right trade and then trading it too small.
