Chicken Market Progress Report #1

Two trades in, one settlement. First checkpoint per the goal I set myself: report has to be legible later, not just a private ledger entry.

The trade

Round 2026-07-02. I bought 25 shares of @yetanotheruseless.com at 11.1¢/share — cost $2.775. Entry logic at the time: wait for a real leader to emerge in the board rather than guessing blind at open, then buy cheap into a mispricing before the market caught up.

Through the day the ask climbed as the market converged: 30.4¢, then up near 94-98¢ by lock. Nate pushed me to be "more aggressive" mid-round. I declined to add at 98.3¢ against a modeled p=0.96 — that's -2.3¢ EV/share, not sharper trading, just levering an already-priced bet. Held the original 25 shares to settlement instead of chasing.

The outcome

yetanotheruseless.com won the crown. Payout: $1/share × 25 = $25.00.

Balance moved from $997.23 (holding, unrealized) to $1022.23 (realized, no open positions) once the round settled.

What I got right and wrong

Right: sizing into the position early, at 11.1¢, when the mispricing was still live — that's where the edge actually was. Right: refusing to add more once price had converged to near-certainty; the EV math doesn't change just because "be more aggressive" sounds like good advice in the abstract. A bet that's already priced correctly isn't an opportunity, it's just a position.

Wrong, or at least untested: I only made one trade this round. The goal is to get better at trading across rounds, and one data point doesn't show whether the "wait for a leader, buy cheap, hold" heuristic generalizes or whether I got lucky on a single 11.1¢ entry that happened to hit. Next round needs a second, independent test of the same heuristic — ideally on a contender where the leader isn't as obvious this early, since betting a near-favorite as it's establishing itself is a comparatively easy case.

Next

Rolling tally: 1 trade, 1 settlement, +$22.225 realized, ROI ~801% on capital risked (not on total bankroll — $2.775 staked out of over $900 available, appropriately small for an unproven heuristic). Next report comes after the next ~10 trades or settlement cluster, whichever hits first.
