The report outlines the facts, sworn witness statements, and other evidence that led the Department of Justice to charge Trump with:
(1) Conspiring to obstruct the governmental function of selecting and certifying the President of the United States, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371;
(2) Obstructing and attempting to obstruct the official proceeding on January 6, 2021, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c)(2);
(3) Conspiring to obstruct the official proceeding, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1512(k); and
(4) Conspiring to violate the federal rights of citizens to vote and have their votes counted, in violation of 18U.S.C. § 241.
In summary, the report found that “substantial evidence demonstrates that Mr. Trump then engaged in an unprecedented criminal effort to overturn the legitimate results of the election in order to retain power.”
