VR Boxing

VR Boxing

I boxed in VR yesterday for the first time in a few days (I know, I know) and my punches were really snapping. Southpaw was coming along nicely. My right hook was landing in the solid red in Thrill of the Fight. Today I'm sitting here like "why the heck am I so tense?" and I'm not tense, I'm sore.

I ran through first half of opponents after beating champ last time I played in one go around and it took that long to lose my wind. Taking a few days off seemed to make a huge difference. I don't doubt doing it every day for like a week before that probably helped as much as the days off.

Pretty stoked about that. I was able to go through the whole field of guys, including the champ, before I had that ocular migraine in Vegas and stopped using my VR rig back in 2022. It wasn't when I was using the headset but after that you're like "whoa" and you step back a bit.

Linux VR

I love VR. I hate how much hate it gets. This is the future. Y'all are bad at transhumanism. This is nascent development of the mark II eyeball. Can't get over it. I wish I had a whole assortment of headsets and the gaming PCs to power them, but I don't mess with windows and the valve index I think might work with linux?

My work gave me a MacOS laptop to use but I hate it. I think I tried to install steam and there was some tattler that was like "buy your own gaming laptop" which fair enough, I have one.

Only thing I really rely on the MacOS for is slicing. The linux slicer for Creality never gets updated and I haven't booted up Windows on my laptop in months since I started playing Sins of a Solar Empire II in Ubuntu.

Like everybody supports emulation through proton now because they want people to be able to play on SteamOS/SteamDeck.

I should spend the money to branch out from just having the Meta Quest 3 I bought, but man it works. Little computer that sits on my head.

Yeah I should buy an index. They work with linux. Damn. Shame. For SHAME. I could have spent twice as much, but honestly the portability is something I've come to appreciate. I had a HTC Vive with cords and the little wall sensors and setting it up was a pain. Throwing on a headset and looking around in a circle is actually sweet.

Oh well I need to stop being poor and buy an index. I've got a silicon gasket for the Quest 3 because every time I use it I'm working out. Hopefully they make something similar for index.
