Spiral of death sounds dramatic, but honestly, it’s just Tuesday in russia

spiral of death sounds like a metal album, but in russia its just another tuesday. no gas, grain rotting, wildberries faceplanted, and the regime calls it “normalization.” the only thing spiraling faster than the economy is the excuses, and even those are running out of gas.

gas crisis: now with extra chemicals

you know its bad when even kremlin tv stops pretending the gas shortage is “temporary” and just starts mixing whatever is left with bathtub cleaner. welcome to the badyazhka era, where your car’s engine is a chemistry set and the only thing moving is the mold on your grain. tractors sit, trucks dont run, and the regime’s answer is to blame the west, jack up prices, and hope nobody notices the lines at the pump.

everyone notices, but pretending not to is the new national sport. if you actually grow food, good luck getting it to market. the only thing getting delivered is disappointment, and maybe a little benzene in your tank for flavor. the state’s solution is to gaslight you harder than your car ever could.

labor market: layoffs you cant say out loud

the labor market is “cooling off,” which is economist code for “people are getting canned but we cant say it.” in moscow and the big cities, official unemployment is creeping up, but in the monogorods - those one-factory towns built on asbestos and broken dreams - a layoff is a death sentence. lose your job, lose your future, but dont talk about it, thats “destabilizing.”

so bosses just quietly cut shifts, delay pay, and hope you quit on your own. the only thing more forbidden than layoffs is admitting the war is going sideways. pick your poison: starve quietly or get a knock from the boys in blue for “spreading panic.” either way, the only thing growing is the unemployment line.

wildberries: from amazon wannabe to warehouse barbecue

wildberries was supposed to be russia’s amazon, but now its just a bonfire with a shopping cart on top. ukrainian drones turned their warehouses into barbecue pits, losses so big even the regime cant cook the books fast enough. hundreds of billions of rubles up in smoke, one warehouse in elektrostal alone went full inferno, and that was just the warm-up.

sellers lost their stock, the company lost its infrastructure, and now you get a zombie website that takes orders but cant pay anyone. their big pivot? launching a messenger app, because nothing says “we’re fine” like desperately trying to become telegram while your business burns down.

the government’s response? putin mumbled about “restoring logistics on a new technological level,” which is code for “we have no clue, but we’ll hold a meeting.” no bailout, no compensation, just a shrug and a reminder you’re on your own. the only thing they protect is their own wallets, and the only thing more toxic than the warehouses is the PR.

grain: record harvest, record rot

the regime brags about “record harvests,” but the only thing piling up is excuses. tons of grain are rotting because there’s no fuel to move it and no buyers with real money. sanctions mean fewer export options, logistics are shot, and the only thing growing faster than the crops is the mountain of bullshit.

if you’re a farmer, you watch your year’s work turn to compost while officials drive by in imported suvs. the state says its all fine, but the only thing they export reliably is cope. the real harvest is poverty, and the only thing getting richer is the smell.

spiral of death: normalization, kremlin style

this is the spiral of death: one sector crashes, drags down the next, and the only thing rising is the unemployment line. the regime calls it “normalization” because “collapse” doesnt look good on tv. they cant fix the fuel crisis, cant rebuild the warehouses, and sure as hell cant magic up an economy when half the budget is buying iranian drones and bribing officials.

every time they patch one hole, three more open. its like watching a guy try to bail out a sinking boat with a shot glass, but he’s also on fire. the wild part? the propaganda machine is still running full tilt, promising new logistics, new tech, new “import substitution” miracles. the only thing they substitute is reality for fantasy.

the second army of the world cant deliver socks to the front or bread to the store, but they’ll tell you its all part of the plan.

the people who actually make and move things are getting squeezed out, and the only jobs left are in the ministry of excuses. the spiral just keeps spinning: fuel crisis means no transport, no transport means rotting grain, rotting grain means bankrupt farmers, bankrupt farmers mean more unemployment, more unemployment means less spending, less spending means dead marketplaces, dead marketplaces mean more bankruptcies. rinse and repeat until the only thing left is a pile of rubble and a tv host telling you to be proud.

stability, but only on tv

the regime will keep calling this “stability” until the last light goes out. they’ll say the spiral is just “temporary difficulties,” that “the west is jealous,” that “russian resilience” will win the day. but you cant eat resilience, and you cant fill your tank with patriotism. at some point, even the most loyal vatnik has to notice the fridge is empty and the car wont start.

so yeah, spiral of death sounds dramatic, but its just the new normal. the only thing left to spiral is the cope, and trust me, they’ve got enough of that to export for years.

russian stability is just a word for when nothing works but the excuses.
