“Banally lied all the way up to the top.

the kremlin didnt just lie their way to the top, they built a whole pyramid scheme out of it. now the z-verse is melting down because ukraine just clowned them again, and even the regime’s pet bloggers cant keep the mask on. watching these guys eat their own is better than any netflix binge, trust.

the vivaldi beatdown

ukraine just dropped another “impossible” offensive, this time around lyman. operation vivaldi, because nothing says “classy ass-kicking” like a baroque composer. started in may, ran all summer, and by late september, boom: 51 square km retaken in a week, 176 since the start, and a pile of russian pows so big even the ministry of defense cant call it “regrouping” with a straight face.

the receipts are everywhere. videos, photos, ukrainian soldiers grinning with a hundred dazed conscripts in tow. no amount of “special military operation” word salad can cover that up. the kremlin’s favorite move is to deny, deflect, distract, declare victory, repeat, but this time the cracks are showing.

even the z-bloggers, those professional cope merchants, are losing the plot. “pora domoy” (time to go home, lmao) spent the days before the collapse screaming at everyone to “filter information,” basically begging their audience not to believe their own eyes. when the news broke, they lashed out at anyone reporting from abroad, called them traitors, and accused “enemy media” of focusing on lyman while “real” russian problems like gas shortages and rigged elections magically vanished. it’s like watching a guy with his pants on fire yell at you for noticing the smoke.

reruns and receipts

oleg tsaryov, one of the regime’s old-school mouthpieces, actually had the stones to remind everyone this isnt the first time the kremlin’s “banal lies” have blown up in their faces. remember autumn 2022? russians got booted out of balakliya and izyum, and the official line was “strategic regrouping.” or august 2024, when ukrainian troops strolled into kursk oblast, and gerasimov (the russian army’s magic 8-ball) declared the “enemy advance into russia has been stopped” literally the next day. spoiler: it hadnt. five days later, the acting governor was still trying to explain why the front line was moving the wrong way.

it’s a rerun with worse actors every season. but this time, the panic is different. the propaganda machine isnt just spinning, it’s eating itself. the ministry of defense? silent. not a peep about the pows, not a word about the lost territory. tsaryov posts a screed titled “the truth about the front must not be given to the enemy,” which is just a fancy way of saying “if we admit reality, we lose the narrative.” problem is, the narrative’s already in shambles.

when your own soldiers are surrendering on camera and your bloggers are openly calling out the lies “all the way up to the top,” the only people left buying the story are the ones who need it to sleep at night.

the feedback loop of bullshit

russian propaganda isnt just about lying to the world, it’s about lying to itself. the whole system runs on a feedback loop of bullshit:

when the truth leaks out—when a hundred pows show up on telegram, when the front line moves the wrong way, when the “second army of the world” gets clowned by a bunch of guys with gopros and a playlist—the system short-circuits. the only move left is to scream “fake news” and hope nobody notices the smell.

but people are noticing. even the hardcore z crowd, the ones who used to parrot every kremlin talking point like it was gospel, are starting to ask questions. why do we keep “regrouping” into smaller and smaller pieces of ukraine? why does every “victory” come with more dead conscripts and fewer working washing machines? why does the ministry of defense go radio silent every time something big happens, only to pop up later with a powerpoint about how “everything is going according to plan”? at some point, even the most loyal vatnik has to wonder if the plan is just “lose slower.”

gaslighting on autopilot

the regime’s answer, as always, is to double down on the gaslighting. “dont trust anyone who lives abroad.” “the enemy controls the narrative.” “we cant show weakness.” it’s the same tired playbook, but the audience is getting restless. when your own propagandists are openly admitting “we lied all the way up to the top,” you’ve lost more than just a town—you’ve lost the plot.

the only thing left to export is excuses. and lets not forget the real kicker: the kremlin’s obsession with controlling the narrative isnt about protecting the people, it’s about protecting themselves. the regime robs the country blind, sends its kids to die for a fantasy, and then blames the west, the “fifth column,” or anyone with a working internet connection for the fallout.

meanwhile, the actual problems—sanctions, a collapsing economy, a military that cant hold a line, a population that’s either fleeing or dying—get swept under the rug. the only thing growing in russia right now is the list of banned topics and the number of graves.

“banally lied all the way up to the top.” that’s not just a confession, it’s the regime’s epitaph.

the circus is on fire

the russian propaganda machine is finally running out of runway. you can only “banally lie” for so long before reality kicks the door in. the z-bloggers are panicking because they know the game is up. the ministry of defense is silent because there’s nothing left to say. the regime is terrified because the only thing holding the whole mess together is a story nobody believes anymore—not even the people paid to tell it.

meanwhile, ukraine keeps doing what it does best: making the kremlin look like amateurs, one liberated town at a time. the front line keeps moving, the pows keep piling up, and the “second army of the world” keeps proving it’s just a marketing slogan scribbled on a vodka-stained napkin. the only thing russia’s winning is the race to see how fast you can turn a superpower into a punchline.

so yeah, “banally lied all the way up to the top.” the circus isnt leaving town, but the tent’s on fire and the elephants are already halfway to georgia.

russian victory maps are just a time-lapse of them running away from their own press releases.
