meanwhile, the regime swaps out commanders like theyre changing lightbulbs in a blackout. mobilized guys with half-healed wounds get tossed back in, drone operators who lose a few quadcopters get “promoted” to stormtrooper duty, and the only thing more common than a new general is a new excuse. duma’s own general sobolev says russia needs to win by 2030, because apparently the plan is to keep feeding bodies into the shredder until nato gets bored. sure, and my grandma’s gonna win the boston marathon.
the cope olympics
all this “end the war” talk is just another flavor of cope. russians want the war to stop, but only on their terms, which means “we keep what we stole, you pretend we’re the good guys, and nobody mentions the war crimes.” the regime’s survival depends on pretending victory is just around the corner, even as their own propagandists cant keep the story straight. putin’s ego is the only thing heavier than the sanctions, and the only way this ends is if the pressure gets so high he cant ignore it.
the only thing more fragile than russian public opinion is a lada in winter
they want peace, but only if it comes with a parade and a free washing machine. until “stop the war” means real pressure on the streets, in the elite circles, in the actual halls of power, its just noise. the only thing that’s gonna make the kremlin blink is more ukrainian wins, more hits on russian soil, more generals getting “good” at dying, and more regular folks realizing the only thing theyre defending is putin’s retirement plan.
