So apparently the “new SVO in Europe” has already started, at least

russian state tv: the new SVO in europe has begun. reality: the only thing rolling into vilnius is another batch of kremlin op-eds nobody reads, and maybe a few guys looking for the nearest lukoil with gas left.

kremlin saber rattling, toddler edition

every week its a new headline, russia threatens lithuania, russia threatens poland, russia threatens to threaten someone else if they dont get their way. its like watching a toddler in a bear costume try to scare the neighbors, except the neighbors already called animal control and bought bigger locks.

the kremlin waves this “new SVO” threat around like a discount lightsaber every time ukraine hands them another L. “we’ll do to vilnius what we did to kyiv!” sure, bro, right after you finish losing to the same cornfield for the third time this month. the only thing theyve managed to invade lately is the unemployment line and maybe a gas station when the lines get too long.

nobody in europe is actually scared anymore. the “second army of the world” is mostly conscripts yanked off the street or out of prison, and their best tank is a 40-year-old museum piece. the only thing russia’s conquered lately is the guinness record for most empty threats per minute.

propaganda machine on turbo, reality on mute

the kremlin’s propaganda machine is working overtime to sell this “new SVO” fantasy. they pump out stories about europe on the brink, right-wing parties about to flip the continent into moscow’s lap, and the west secretly terrified of russian might. reality check: european right-wing movements arent some monolithic pro-kremlin bloc. most of them cant even agree on what day it is, let alone coordinate a continent-wide surrender to moscow.

some are so deep in russian cash and propaganda they might as well have a gazprom logo tattooed on their forehead, but the rest? theyre just as likely to roast each other as they are to parrot kremlin talking points. the only people still buying the “unstoppable russian army” myth are the ones who have to, because their paycheck depends on it.

ukraine’s not waiting for europe to get its act together. they know which right-wingers are a lost cause (looking at you, afd and orban’s fan club) and which ones can be nudged into supporting ukraine’s fight for survival. spoiler: if theyre getting their talking points from RT, theyre not your friend.

mobilization, but make it a scavenger hunt

back in russia, the “new SVO” is already happening, just not the way the regime wants you to think. mobilization? yeah, its on, but its not some heroic call to arms. its recruiters dragging people off the street, raiding prisons, and hunting down anyone with a debt or a dead-end job. if you owe money, congrats, you just won a one-way trip to the front.

the only “special operation” most russians see is the one where their neighbor disappears and the local lukoil runs out of gas by noon. people are queuing up at gas stations from six in the evening just to be first in line the next day. nothing says “world superpower” like turning a gas station line into a block party because you know the pumps will run dry.

meanwhile, the regime is busy threatening lithuania with a “new SVO” in some op-ed nobody outside of moscow even bothered to read. the rest of europe? theyre too busy prepping for winter, stocking up on ammo, and crossing russia’s “red lines” like its a national sport.

red lines and reruns

russia’s drawn so many “red lines” at this point, the map looks like a toddler went wild with a crayon. every time someone steps over one, the kremlin huffs and puffs, but nothing happens except maybe another round of excuses on state tv.

europe’s figured out the game. theyre not scared, theyre getting ready. more weapons, more training, more “just in case” plans. ukraine’s not isolated, theyre picking their friends and calling out the fakes. the kremlin? stuck in reruns, promising a new blitzkrieg every tuesday and delivering two dead conscripts and a broken washing machine by friday.

the only thing russia’s conquering these days is the guinness record for most empty threats per minute.

so yeah, the “new SVO in europe” has started, but its not tanks rolling through warsaw or paratroopers landing in vilnius. its russia threatening everyone and getting laughed at, while their own people get conscripted out of debt and their gas stations turn into social clubs.

if this is the “new SVO,” its about as convincing as a lada with a ferrari badge. keep talking, kremlin. the world’s listening, but only because your clown show is free entertainment.

vatniks: we will take berlin by friday. also vatniks: please donate for socks, the army is cold.
