Ben Hodges dropped a take that’s got the vatniks and their bootlickers

ben hodges just dropped a take so spicy the vatniks are sweating through their knockoff adidas: russia’s size, that old flex about “we can lose a million men and still have more,” is now just a giant, leaky liability. watching the kremlin try to patch that sinking ship with duct tape and telegram cope is the best free show outside a lada dealership.

big country, big problems

the z crowd still thinks “big country = big scary,” like it’s 1812 and mud is a superpower. back then, endless forests and cold killed more invaders than russian bullets. napoleon, hitler, all got lost somewhere between “where the hell are we?” and “why is it so cold?” but now? that sprawl is just a massive, undefended parking lot for ukrainian drones.

ukraine’s not rolling tanks to moscow, they’re sending 3,000km-range drones to torch gas plants in the arctic. russia’s size just means more places to fail at air defense. every time a drone hits a new oil depot or logistics hub, you can see the panic in the regime’s eyes. they can’t cover everything, not even close. air defense is stretched so thin it’s basically a suggestion at this point.

the old “depth as defense” playbook is dead. now it’s “depth as target practice.” every time ukraine hits a wildberries warehouse or a gas plant, some general in moscow has to decide which city gets to be the next sacrificial lamb. “sorry, yamal, you’re not on the vip list, enjoy the fireworks.”

industrial base: sitting duck edition

the regime knows the game is up. they’re scrambling to move s-400s around like it’s a shell game, but there’s just too much ground and not enough gear. ukraine figured out it’s easier to kill the archer than chase every arrow. why waste a million-dollar missile on a shahed when you can just blow up the factory making them?

russia’s industrial base is a sitting duck, and every hit is a double whammy: less gear for the front, less cash for the war machine. the regime’s best move is to keep exporting excuses and hope nobody notices the rot. but ukraine noticed. europe noticed. even the us, for all its dysfunction, is starting to notice.

meanwhile, on the ground, the “second army of the world” is getting clowned on by a country they said would fold in three days. russian milbloggers, those guys who treat google maps like a mood ring, are out here updating their maps to show their own units north of lyman basically don’t exist anymore. gerasimov’s big brain plan to surround slovyansk and kramatorsk? yeah, that died somewhere in the oskil river, along with a few thousand conscripts and whatever’s left of russian morale.

logistics: the real war

let’s talk logistics, because that’s where the real war is. ukraine’s not just hitting tanks and trenches, they’re burning down the russian amazon: wildberries, ozon, all those shiny new distribution centers. these aren’t just e-commerce warehouses, they’re military supply lines in disguise. drones, body armor, thermal scopes, all getting shipped to the front from these places. ukraine’s turning them into bonfires.

doesn’t matter how many mobiks you throw at the border if you can’t get them boots, bullets, or even a decent meal. war is logistics, and russia’s is going up in smoke. ukraine’s been running textbook opsec, keeping their moves quiet while the kremlin’s stuck in a feedback loop of “everything is fine, comrade.” spoiler: it’s not.

the regime’s answer? more mobilization, maybe. or maybe not. depends which kremlin mouthpiece you ask and what day of the week it is. putin and medvedev keep denying it, which in kremlin-speak means “get ready for it.” they know another round of mass mobilization is political suicide, but they’re running out of options.

america: reality show with nukes

while russia’s busy playing whack-a-mole with its own territory, ukraine’s not slowing down. they’re hitting energy infrastructure, fuel depots, anything that keeps the russian war machine running. the regime’s crying to trump about it, like that’s going to help. us diesel prices are through the roof, but instead of blaming the guy who started a war with iran and blew up the oil market, trump’s out here blaming ukraine. classic.

speaking of which, let’s talk about that wedding. don jr. gets a russian oligarch to pay for his island party - private jets, fireworks, the whole nine yards - while his dad’s administration is busy letting the same oligarch’s buddies run “peace talks” with ukraine. you can’t make this up. the guy who’s supposed to be defending american interests is letting his family get wined and dined by the same crew that’s kidnapping ukrainian kids and laundering war crimes through “youth sports.”

if you pay for the orchestra, you pick the music, right? guess who’s calling the tune in dc these days.

it’s not just the trumps. the whole us defense apparatus is getting gutted. generals and admirals getting fired left and right, no explanations, just vibes. secretary of the army quits, pentagon’s run by a guy more interested in pushups and culture wars than actual wars. congress is asleep at the wheel, nobody’s doing oversight, and the only people left in charge are the ones who know how to say “yes, sir” and not much else.

the only thing more american than blaming someone else for your problems is doing it while cashing checks from russian oligarchs.

europe: watching the circus

europe’s looking at the us like “what the hell happened to you?” used to be, american checks and balances were the gold standard. now it’s just a reality show with nukes. europeans are watching the us flip-flop between parties, presidents, and priorities every four years, and wondering if they should start learning mandarin just in case.

putin’s loving it. he’s been pumping cash and memes into every far-right party from berlin to paris to london, and now he’s got the white house on speed dial. but here’s the kicker: all this chaos, all this kremlin meddling, all these “grey zone” attacks on nato and eu targets, it’s not working the way they want.

sure, they can launch a drone at leipzig airport or drop a missile in poland, but every time they do, the west gets a little less scared and a little more pissed off. the desensitization game only works until someone decides to hit back, and that clock’s ticking. russia’s already at war with europe, they just haven’t gotten the memo that nobody’s buying the “we’re just defending ourselves” line anymore.

ukraine: still standing, still roasting

through all this, ukraine’s still standing. still fighting. still roasting russian logistics, still making the regime look like amateurs. hodges is right: the lesson from ukraine isn’t just about drones and tactics, it’s about willpower. ukrainians are freezing in the dark, getting bombed every night, and still refusing to roll over.

meanwhile, the us can’t even keep a secretary of the army for more than a year, and half the political class is too busy counting oligarch money to notice. russia’s size is a vulnerability now. it’s too big to defend, too corrupt to fix, and too broke to keep up.

the only people who haven’t figured it out yet are the ones still watching russian state tv and thinking “we’re winning.” newsflash: you’re not. you’re just running out of places to hide.

in the end, the empire that bragged about swallowing invaders is now choking on its own territory. the only thing russia’s size is good for these days is giving ukraine more targets and giving the rest of us more to laugh at. and trust me, i’ll be here screenshotting every last bit of cope until the circus finally packs up and leaves.

russian tv: we have infinite land, infinite men, infinite victory. reality: infinite targets, infinite excuses, infinite cope.
