You know the war’s going sideways for Russia when even the babushkas

babushkas on odnoklassniki are asking for a time out, generals are dropping faster than ruble value, and kremlin tv is still selling victory like its 2022. when the only thing advancing is the price of eggs, you know the vibes are off. welcome to another episode of “please, daddy putin, make it stop,” where the regime’s big plan is to hold a trench for three days and call it a parade.

the vibes are terminal

russians begging for the war to end isnt some sudden moral awakening, its just the sound of a country realizing the meat grinder doesnt have an off switch. two years ago it was “kyiv in three days,” now its “please dont mobilize my son, hes allergic to shovels.” the propaganda machine is out here inventing new “liberated” towns while the only thing getting liberated is the last can of condensed milk.

front line near lyman? kremlin tv hands out medals, ukraine hands out funerals. anton grunis, hero of russia, commander of the 4th motor rifle brigade, got his medal, lied about capturing kostyantynivka, and then got sent to the big dacha in the sky. the only thing more consistent than russian generals dying is the regime pretending its all part of the plan.

every time a “good” general gets vaporized, the kremlin just swaps in another guy with a fresh uniform and a new way to fudge the casualty numbers. its musical chairs, but the music is artillery and the prize is a closed-casket funeral.

public mood: “can we stop now?”

its not just telegram warriors and z-bloggers whining anymore. regular russians are writing to government hotlines, soldiers’ moms groups, even some local officials are muttering that maybe, just maybe, this “special operation” isnt worth another generation of kids coming home in boxes. the regime’s answer? more mobilization, more censorship, and a new batch of generals who’ll last about as long as a lada in a pothole.

lets not pretend the elite are about to grow a conscience. the only thing that ever makes them blink is when the pain gets personal:

the foundation is cracking, but nobody’s swinging a sledgehammer yet. the only way to finish the job is pressure from every angle, inside and out, until even putin’s ego cant carry the weight.

generals on shuffle, meat grinder on repeat

putin’s been shuffling generals like a blackjack dealer on meth. valery solodchuk, out. andrey ivanayev, in. the only qualification for command is not having been blown up yet. the tempo of russian offensives is crawling, and the only thing moving fast is the turnover rate in the officer corps.

the kremlin’s still talking about “significant successes,” but even their own propagandists cant keep a straight face. under lyman, russian troops are retreating, and the only thing between them and sviatohirsk is about 30 kilometers of open field and a whole lot of ukrainian artillery.

the only thing more dangerous than being a russian soldier is being a russian soldier who’s run out of drones.

meanwhile, the regime’s “solutions” for manpower shortages are pure dystopia. got a heavy wound? back to the front, comrade, we need bodies in kursk. lose a few fpv drones? congrats, you’re now in a storm unit. its not a military, its a meat lottery.

the endgame is just more pain

the regime’s big bet is to outlast ukraine and the west, hoping everyone else gets tired and lets them keep whatever they’ve managed to hold. but the cracks are getting wider. every ukrainian advance, every drone strike on russian soil, every public complaint from a soldier’s mom or a pissed-off oligarch adds weight to the side of the scale that says, “enough.” the goal now isnt some grand victory, its to make the cost of continuing so high that even putin’s inner circle starts looking for the exit.

its not just about battlefield wins, though those help. its about making sure every negative factor keeps piling up:

the more the front collapses, the more russians see the war as pointless, the harder it gets for the kremlin to sell another round of mobilization or another “heroic” general who’ll be dead by next tuesday.

but heres the catch: wanting the war to end isnt enough. russians have to want it enough to accept real concessions, not just some face-saving “peace” that leaves them with a chunk of ukraine and a new set of fairy tales for state tv. right now, the mood is “lets just stop the bleeding,” but the regime’s still hoping to freeze the lines and call it a win. the only way that changes is if the pain keeps getting worse - more strikes, more losses, more public pressure - until the only way out is to actually give something up.

ukraine’s not waiting, and neither is reality

meanwhile, ukraine’s not waiting around for russia to get its act together. every advance under lyman, every general sent to the afterlife, every drone strike on russian soil is another reminder that the “second army of the world” is mostly a marketing slogan and a graveyard. the only thing russia’s winning is the race to see how many of its own people it can throw into the woodchipper before someone finally pulls the plug.

so let the regime keep swapping generals and inventing victories. let the babushkas keep writing letters and the oligarchs keep sweating over their yachts. the war will end when the cost of continuing is higher than the cost of stopping - and right now, ukraine’s making sure that bill keeps going up. the only thing left for russia to export is excuses, and even those are starting to sound like a broken record.

russian victory speeches are just weather reports for a storm that never ends. the only thing theyre liberating is the last nerve of anyone still watching.
