Let’s talk about Russia’s air force, or what’s left of it.

russian air force these days is just a flaming wreckage delivery service with bonus cope. every week its a new video, a new excuse, and another z blogger screaming about nato sorcery while a su-34 does its best impression of a lawn dart. second army of the world? more like second-hand air force, and even that feels generous.

from top gun to top flop

two years back, kremlin tv was hyping up their jets like it was top gun: siberia edition. su-34s, su-35s, the whole alphabet soup, all lined up to "liberate" ukraine by bombing it flat. the plan was simple: blitz the skies, own the ground, roll tanks into kyiv, and film a victory parade before the weekend.

fast forward and the only thing rolling is the eyes of anyone who believed that nonsense. instead of shock and awe, we got shock and "aw shit, not another one down." the only parade happening now is a procession of flaming fuselages across telegram.

the only thing russia's air force dominates is the leaderboard for most expensive lawn darts.

why are the planes dropping like flies?

so what happened? spoiler: its not just "bad luck" or "nato magic." its a cocktail of arrogance, trash planning, and logistics that would make a soviet quartermaster cry into his vodka. the kremlin thought they could carpet bomb their way to victory, like its still 1943 and the only thing that matters is how many tons you can drop on a map.

ukraine didnt get the memo. theyve got air defenses that actually work, and theyre not shy about using them. every time a russian jet tries to get cute and fly low, its basically playing whac-a-mole with s-300s and patriots. spoiler: the mole keeps losing.

the pilots? propaganda says theyre the best, but half are flying with maps printed off wikipedia and radios that sound like a mcdonalds drive-thru. training hours? cut to save cash. maintenance? maybe the next batch of parts will actually fit your 40-year-old jet, comrade. morale? the only thing lower is the altitude theyre forced to fly at to dodge radar, which is why they keep eating stinger missiles for breakfast.

drone spam and the cope olympics

russias new genius move is to spam drones at kyiv 24/7, hoping to exhaust ukrainian air defenses. when theyre not launching ballistic missiles, theyre sending in waves of shaheds, like a swarm of angry, overpriced mosquitoes. some of these drones are using belarusian sim cards to stay connected, because nothing says "military superpower" like borrowing your neighbors cell plan.

lukashenko tried to shut down the relay towers, but the drones are still getting signal from belarus. apparently the only thing more porous than the russian border is their operational security. every time a russian plane goes down, the excuses start flying faster than the wreckage: "friendly fire," "technical malfunction," "nato hackers." pick your flavor of cope, but the scoreboard doesnt lie.

if this keeps up, the only thing left in the russian air force will be the parade flyovers on red square, and even those might need cgi.

the numbers dont lie, but the kremlin does

lets talk numbers, because the kremlin sure wont. open-source trackers and satellite nerds have been counting, and the losses are brutal. dozens of jets, bombers, and helicopters turned into scrap metal. some weeks, russia loses more aircraft than they can replace in a year.

you cant just grab a random conscript, toss him the keys to a su-34, and hope for the best. well, you can, but thats how you end up with even more flaming wrecks on telegram. the brain drain is real, and the best pilots are either dead, captured, or quietly looking for jobs in dubai.

propaganda vs reality

every time a plane goes down, russian state tv spins it like a minor setback or a "heroic sacrifice." theyll show a picture of the pilot with a medal, play some sad music, and then cut to a segment about how the west is collapsing because of gay parades or whatever. meanwhile, ukrainian channels are posting the wreckage with gps coordinates and memes.

the information war is just as savage as the real one, and russia is losing both. the regimes answer? double down. more attacks on kyiv, more drones, more "precision strikes" that hit apartment blocks and playgrounds. four days straight of non-stop bombardment, hoping to break ukrainian will.

but every missile and drone they waste is one less they can use later. every plane they lose is another hole in their already leaky air force. and every time they miss, the world sees just how "precise" russian targeting really is. spoiler: its about as accurate as their economic forecasts.

the myth gets shredded

air power was supposed to be russias trump card. tanks can get stuck in mud, infantry can mutiny, but jets? jets were supposed to be untouchable. instead, theyre dropping like flies, and the kremlin is running out of ways to hide it. the myth of russian military might is getting shredded one crash at a time, and the only thing more embarrassing than the losses is the excuses.

every dictator and wannabe strongman who bought russian jets is watching this and thinking, "wait, i paid how much for that?" the export market is tanking, and the only thing russia is selling now is discount scrap metal and war stories. even wagners air force would think twice before signing up for this circus.

meanwhile, ukraine is getting better. more western air defenses, more experience, more confidence. every russian plane that goes down is a lesson learned, a morale boost, and a warning to the next pilot who thinks he can bomb a city and get away with it. the tech gap is closing, and russia cant keep up. the days of "shock and awe" are over, now its just "shock and oops, there goes another one."

running out of planes, running out of excuses

russia keeps losing more war planes because their whole system is built on lies, shortcuts, and wishful thinking. they thought they could bully their way to victory, but all theyve done is expose how hollow their military really is. the air force is bleeding planes, pilots, and prestige, and no amount of propaganda can cover up the wreckage.

ukraine is not just surviving, its winning the air war one downed jet at a time. and the kremlin? theyre running out of planes, running out of pilots, and running out of excuses. at this rate, the only thing left flying over moscow will be the pigeons.

so next time you see a z blogger posting about another "heroic" russian pilot, just remember: behind every medal is a smoking crater, a lost jet, and a regime thats too busy blaming nato to fix its own mess. second army of the world? more like second-hand air force. the only thing falling faster than their planes is their reputation.

russian air force is like a lada with wings: loud, unreliable, and mostly seen on the side of the road.
