Day 1667 and Russia’s still speedrunning the “how to nuke your own

russia’s been nuking its own economy for 1667 days straight and now the only thing running on gas is the propaganda machine. fuel crisis, sanctions, ukraine rolling, and the regions so broke they make the 90s look like a golden age. lets break down the latest episode of “how to lose a country in real time.”

fuel meltdown: gas station closed, try next century

remember when ruzzia was the “gas station of europe”? now its just a gas station with a cardboard sign and a guy selling jerry cans out back. drone strikes been roasting refineries for months, and now production’s down to 70% of what they need. every “planned repair” is just code for “we got smoked again.” perm, yaroslavl, leningrad, nizhny novgorod, tyumen—offline, toast, dry, pick your flavor.

lines at the pump are back, stretching for kilometers. some regions tried lifting rationing, but that just meant the pumps ran dry faster. in places like saratov, penza, surgut, samara, rostov, kursk, you cant even bribe your way to a liter. tractors are parked, tow trucks are chilling, and the only thing moving is the price. fifty-three regions saw prices spike but sechin says rosneft’s got it under control, so i guess we can all relax. lukoil’s only serving people with special fuel cards, gazprom’s “emergency deliveries” are just rumors, and the government’s solution is to “fix logistics.” translation: pray for rain and hope the next drone misses.

the second army of the world cant keep the lights on in tyumen, and the only thing “strategic” about their reserves is how fast they disappear.

propaganda olympics: learned helplessness is the new normal

the regime’s propaganda machine is working overtime to convince everyone this is just a “temporary inconvenience.” russians are apparently “getting used to” no gas, higher prices, and the looming threat of mobilization. levada center polls say stress and fear are dropping—sure, buddy. thats not adaptation, thats learned helplessness. when you’ve been gaslit for two years straight, you stop noticing the smell.

every crisis is “under control,” every defeat is “strategic,” and every new sanction is “an opportunity for growth.” meanwhile, the only thing growing is the list of banned imports and the number of russians googling “how to emigrate.” the brain drain’s so bad even the regime’s kids are posting from dubai.

the circus at the pump is just the warmup. the real show is watching the regime try to spin a fuel shortage into a win. they say “logistics,” you see a kilometer-long line for gas. they say “temporary,” you see tractors rusting in the field. they say “opportunity,” you see your rubles turning into monopoly money.

sanctions: creative accounting cant hide the rot

sanctions are about to get another upgrade and the regime’s already sweating. the last round didnt collapse the economy overnight, but it did turn “import substitution” into a national meme and “made in russia” into a punchline. now, with the eu and us tightening the screws again, even the creative accounting cant hide the rot.

the black market’s booming, but you cant smuggle your way out of a refinery shortage. the ruble’s doing its best impression of a meme coin, and the only thing more inflated than the currency is the casualty numbers on state tv. every time they announce a “new partnership” with some random country, its just another way to launder the same old junk.

the regime’s answer to every setback is to promise a “counteroffensive” that never comes, or to threaten mobilization again. spoiler: nobody’s lining up to die for a regime that cant even keep the tractors running.

frontlines and fake victories: z bloggers cope, kremlin dreams

ukraine’s offensive is still rolling, and every time a z blogger declares victory, another russian unit gets smoked or surrenders. lyman’s a mess, novorossiysk is underwater after the latest drone strikes on the black sea fleet, and the only thing the kremlin’s got left is nuclear blackmail and hallucinations about “negotiations.”

the regime’s answer to every loss is to threaten mobilization or promise a “counteroffensive” that never shows up. nobody’s buying it. the only thing getting mobilized is the next batch of cannon fodder, and even theyre running out of patience. the front moves a little more every week, and the excuses get thinner.

the russian dream used to be a lada that starts and a neighbor poorer than you. now its just a full tank and a way out.

regions broke, center clueless: all roads lead to nowhere

moscow’s still pretending everything’s fine, but out in the sticks, budgets are empty and the only thing getting funded is more funerals. local officials are begging for help, but the kremlin’s too busy laundering war crimes and staging fake referendums to care. infrastructure’s falling apart, schools and hospitals are running on fumes, and the only growth industry is “volunteer” battalions—aka, cannon fodder with a signing bonus that wont buy you a tank of gas.

state tv can scrub the footage all they want, but the stains keep showing up in un reports. the regime’s best trick is to distract with some new “nazi” story or a fake peace plan, but nobody outside the echo chamber is buying it. the world’s moved on from “dialogue” with moscow—now its just about containment and waiting for the next meltdown.

so whats the endgame? the regime’s running out of options, out of money, and out of gas. the army’s getting chewed up, the economy’s circling the drain, and the only thing holding the system together is inertia and fear. every new crisis gets papered over with more propaganda, but the cracks are showing.

you cant drone-proof every refinery, you cant sanction-proof a mafia state, and you cant mobilize your way out of a war you’re losing.

the circus rolls on: out of gas, out of time

ukraine’s not just holding the line, theyre pushing it. every week the front moves a little more, and every week the regime’s excuses get thinner. the only thing more reliable than russian propaganda is the next catastrophe. the regime threatens the world every tuesday, but delivers two dead conscripts and a stolen washing machine.

the tent’s on fire, the clowns are out of gas, and the only thing left is to watch the circus burn.
