Alright, let’s talk about the latest episode of “Who Wants to Be

russian generals dropping faster than a ruble in a currency crisis, and the only thing the kremlin produces quicker is excuses. ukraine just sent two more bigwigs to the gulag in the sky, and the z-bloggers are coping so hard youd think denial was a state-sponsored industry. every time a general goes poof, russian telegram melts down about leaks and traitors, like maybe the real enemy was the payroll all along.

generals, gone in sixty seconds

ukraine just turned the hq of lieutenant general sergey milchakov and, allegedly, major general anton grunis into a modern art exhibit in occupied donetsk. not a lucky shot, either, this was surgical. russian milbloggers are already leaking the news, which means the kremlin is about to hit us with the classic: deny, deflect, distract, declare victory, repeat. you know the drill.

the blast didnt just take out the generals, it wiped a whole stack of colonels and majors too. thats a lot of medals for the next victory day parade, assuming they can find enough living officers to pin them on. the hit was so precise that even vatniks are whispering about insiders, because nobody wants to believe ukraine is just that good. spoiler: they are.

meanwhile, the front near lyman is a meat grinder. ukrainian 3rd army corps under bilytsky is grinding away, and even rybar had to update his maps. russians tried their classic "run across open fields and pray" tactic, and, shocker, it didnt work. operation "vivaldi" is already a symphony of failure: 1,500 troops, 12,000 drones, and enough armor lost to make a scrapyard blush.

logistics: the real russian horror story

lets talk logistics, because nothing says "winning" like paying truckers $3,000 a run just to get supplies into crimea. thats more than most russians see in a month, and its still not enough to dodge ukrainian drones and himars. ukraine is vaporizing 20-30 trucks a day, and novorossiysk port is turning into a ship graveyard. hundreds of tankers from russias "shadow fleet" are floating, half-sunk, waiting for repairs that cost more than a new ship.

the only thing moving faster than russian oil is anyone with a brain and a passport. gas stations in krasnodar are out of everything but 100-octane at 92 rubles a liter, which is a steal compared to moscow, but only if you like your engine seizing up after one tank. "made in russia" is less a brand and more a warning label at this point.

ukraine is running a masterclass in "how to turn your enemys economy into a bonfire." sisron refinery in samara just got hit again, taganrog fuel depots are burning, slavyansk refinery is still on fire days later, and russian firefighters are learning you cant put out a fire with vodka and prayers.

flamingos, factories, and flaming wreckage

ukraines new "flamingo" cruise missile just dropped a whole section of the volgograd petrochemical plant. six or seven floors, gone. production for the russian army? toast. chemical plants in samara got hit too, workshops bk-2, bk-3, bk-4 all out of commission. even the ozon distribution center in saratov got wiped off the map. the parking lot is empty because theres nothing left to park.

russias answer? build more drone factories in alabuga, tatarstan, using chinese parts. five new assembly lines, all churning out shahed knockoffs for the nightly "lets annoy kyiv" show. ukraine already poked holes in the roof, but russia has backups. the best air defense in the country is parked outside, which is cute, because the only thing those systems shoot down is the defense budget.

meanwhile, ukraine is adapting. zelensky just announced successful tests of a new drone interceptor, think "shahed hunter" but faster. russia upgraded to jet-powered drones at 500-600 kph, but ukrainian engineers are already fielding prototypes that can catch and kill them. two companies have working models, and once they iron out the bugs, its production time. the arms race is going full mario kart.

war crimes and the art of losing ugly

while ukraine is making generals go poof and turning refineries into barbecue pits, russia is sticking to its favorite hobby: war crimes. two more gas stations in kyiv hit by russian missiles, one dead, eight wounded. pharma warehouses in odesa, food and medicine depots across the country, if it keeps ukrainians alive, russia wants it gone. the goal isnt victory, its starvation. if you cant beat the army, bomb the civilians. classic terrorist playbook.

russia is getting bold, or just desperate, enough to hit a passenger train right on the polish border. a jet drone flew along the belarus line, nailed the locomotive, and wiped out the train. no casualties, but the kicker? former cia director david petraeus and an eu delegation were on board, heading to kyiv. polands foreign minister is fuming, calling it a direct attack on the eu and nato border. peskov shrugs and says, "its all ukraine, were just doing our job." sure, buddy. next youll tell us the train attacked itself.

the only thing more dangerous than a cornered rat is a cornered regime with nukes and nothing left to lose.

energy wars, oligarchs, and the allies who wont

zoom out, and the energy wars are getting spicier than a moscow kebab. trump is out here telling zelensky to stop hitting russian diesel, like ukraine is supposed to care about the price at your local truck stop. meanwhile, the houthis (with a little help from iran) have locked down the bab-el-mandeb strait, irans got the hormuz strait on chokehold, and pro-iran militias just blew up the east-west pipeline in saudi. diesel prices are through the roof, and everyones pointing fingers.

trump claims ukraine agreed to stop hitting russian energy, russia is pretending theres a secret deal, and zelensky is like, "ill stop when you stop, and not just for your election cycle." the only thing more unstable than the oil market is the kremlins grip on reality.

and for the subplot, russian oligarch umar kremlyov, ex-mafia muscle turned boxing boss, paid for don jrs wedding in the bahamas. private islands, fireworks, the whole nine yards. kremlyov is under ukrainian sanctions for kidnapping kids, barely speaks english, and is tight with putins biker gang. but sure, its just "friendship," nothing to see here. the guy even picked the island and probably bugged every room. now the kremlins got home movies of the trump kids on vacation. if this was a netflix show, youd call it too on the nose.

polands foreign minister is flexing at the yalta european strategy conference, saying if russia tried anything, poland would "take off the gloves" and wipe the floor with them. claims theyve got 2,500 aircraft ready to go, and if ukraine can knock out half of russias refineries in six months, poland could finish the job in six weeks. the only question: why arent they sending those jdam and jassm to ukraine right now? allies love to talk tough, but when it comes to actually handing over the good stuff, its all "maybe next quarter."

receipts, reality, and the regime running on fumes

so whats the takeaway? russias losing generals faster than they can promote new ones, and the replacements are getting younger, dumber, and more expendable. ukraines not just holding the line, theyre making the kremlin pay for every inch, every truck, every drop of diesel. the russian economys on fire, literally, and the only thing keeping the lights on is a patchwork of chinese parts and black market deals.

the regimes answer to every disaster is to blame the west, blame ukraine, blame anyone but themselves. meanwhile, the real story is written in the casualty lists, the burning refineries, and the empty parking lots where factories used to be. russian propaganda will spin this as "strategic regrouping" or "heroic sacrifice," but the receipts dont lie.

two more generals down, another round of cope for the z-bloggers, and a regime thats running out of both time and talent. at this rate, the only generals left will be the ones too old to stand or too smart to show up. and if youre a russian officer reading this, maybe start working on your resume. or your will. either way, the job markets about to get a lot less crowded.

russian victory parade this year is just gonna be a guy with a broom sweeping up the last general.
