Day 1667 and Russia’s fuel “catastrophe” is now just called “Tuesday.

russian fuel crisis so routine now they just call it tuesday, not even worth a new excuse. the only thing getting filled up is the ministry of spin, and the “energy superpower” cant keep a gas station open unless you count drone shrapnel as a fuel additive. lets break it down, because the circus is in town and the clowns are running out of gas.

refineries getting smoked

ukrainian drones are treating russian refineries like target practice. not just the small fry, either, the big names are getting clapped: perm, yaroslavl, leningrad, nizhny novgorod. production is down to 70% of what they need. in tyumen, the so-called oil capital, you cant even fill up a lada. same story in saratov, penza, surgut. want to fill your tank? better pack a lunch and a sleeping bag, you might be driving 50 kilometers just to find a station with a pulse.

when you finally get there, hope you brought a fuel card, because cash is so last year and half the pumps are “temporarily” offline. the only thing moving faster than the gas lines is the excuses.

regime’s “solution”: move the empty trucks

the kremlin keeps saying “logistics are being fixed,” which is vatnik for “we’re moving the same empty trucks around and hoping nobody notices.” they swear the crisis is “under control,” but the only thing under control is the number of regions running on fumes. 53 regions saw gas prices spike. tractors are parked, tow trucks are collecting dust, and the only thing moving is the line at the bus stop.

even saint petersburg, which usually pretends its above peasant problems, had to admit the shelves are bare. their official explanation? “no comment.” classic.

propaganda on overdrive, reality on empty

every night on tv, sechin and the rosneft mafia swear “no stations are closed” and “prices are stable.” sure, and im the tsar of all russias. out in the real world, people are rationing, limits are back, and in some regions you’re lucky to get 40 liters if you can find any. omsk and samara tried to play hero and dropped their limits, but that just meant they ran out faster. now the only thing unlimited is the whining on telegram.

the only thing russia’s got left to export is cope, and even that’s getting rationed.

learned helplessness, not resilience

heres the punchline: russians are getting used to it. levada center polls show fewer people are stressed or angry about the shortages. not because things are better, but because theyve hit that special level of “whatever” you only get from living in a country where the main export is disappointment. the regime robs them blind, tells them its for the motherland, and they just shrug and queue up for the next round of “temporary difficulties.” its not resilience, its learned helplessness with a side of stockholm syndrome.

regions broke, kremlin blames the weather

while the fuel crisis turns the country into mad max cosplay, the regions are broke. budgets are bleeding, infrastructure is falling apart, and the only thing getting built is more excuses. the center keeps squeezing the regions for war money, but sends back nothing but IOUs and empty promises. local officials are left to explain why the roads are crumbling, the hospitals are empty, and the only thing growing is the list of banned imports.

the kremlin’s solution? blame the west, blame ukraine, blame the weather, blame anyone but the guys actually running the show.

army chewed up, economy running on fumes

all this is happening while ukraine’s counteroffensive keeps rolling. every time a z blogger claims “the front is stable,” another russian unit gets smoked near lyman or some other town nobody in moscow can find on a map. the army’s getting chewed up, the economy’s running on fumes, and the only thing the regime can mobilize is another round of tv threats.

sanctions are still biting, new ones are on the way, and the “import substitution” miracle is just more chinese knockoffs and price tags that make your eyes water.

the new normal: shortages and excuses

so whats the endgame? the regime’s out here pretending its 1941, but the only thing theyre defending is their own bank accounts. the fuel crisis isnt a blip, its the new normal. the regions are broke, the army’s bleeding, and the propaganda’s running on empty.

meanwhile, ukraine’s not just holding, they’re pushing. every drone strike on a refinery is another reminder that the “second army of the world” cant even defend its own gas pumps. every empty station is a punchline. every new round of sanctions is another nail in the coffin of the “energy superpower” myth.

so yeah, day 1667 and the fuel “catastrophe” is just another tuesday in the land of magical thinking. the regime will keep spinning, the bloggers will keep coping, and the people will keep standing in line, waiting for a miracle that’s not coming. welcome to the russian dream: a lada that wont start, a neighbor whos even poorer, and a government that promises victory while delivering nothing but shortages and excuses.

russian victory parade this year is just a line of people waiting for gas, and even that line’s out of fuel.
