Day 1667 and the Russian fuel crisis is now a full-blown clown

russian fuel crisis is now a full-blown clown show, and the only ones laughing are the guys flipping jerry cans on telegram for triple markup. drone strikes torching refineries, gas lines longer than putins presidency, and the regime swears everything is fine while the whole country runs on fumes. spoiler: its not.

fuel meltdown, russian style

remember when ruzzia called itself the gas station of europe? now they cant even fill up in tyumen, the so-called oil and gas capital. thats like kentucky running out of bourbon, except less funny and more tragic. drone strikes have been lighting up refineries from perm to yaroslavl, knocking out so much production that by late august, russia was down to 70% of its usual gasoline output.

its not just a moscow problem either. saratov, penza, surgut, samara, rostov, even st. petersburg are running on fumes. tractors are parked, tow trucks are chilling, and in some places you gotta drive 50 kilometers just to find a station with fuel, if you get lucky. the countryside is basically a mad max cosplay, minus the cool cars.

the regimes answer? rationing, then “easing” rationing, then pretending the lines dont exist. one week its “no more than 40 liters per customer,” next week its “never mind, buy what you want, if you can find any.” lukoil stations only take fuel cards, gazprom stations are rumored to have deliveries that never show up, and the official line is always “logistics are being adjusted.” translation: we have no idea what were doing, but please stop posting photos of empty pumps.

prices up, excuses up, brains down

fuel prices? up in 53 regions and counting. but dont worry, sechin from rosneft says everything’s fine and no stations are closed. sure igor, and im the tsar of all russias. the only thing moving faster than the price of gas is how quick the regime blames “external sabotage” for everything. never mind that the real sabotage is the kremlins own brain-dead logistics and the fact that half the countrys refineries are now “special military operation” barbecue pits.

the regime keeps gaslighting everyone about how “everything’s under control.” meanwhile, the only thing under control is the number of excuses per minute on state tv. the gap between the official story and reality is so wide you could drive a tank through it, if you could find any diesel.

sanctions: the meme that keeps on giving

every time a new sanctions package drops, the kremlin acts like its a mosquito bite. “well just substitute imports!” they say, like you can swap a siemens turbine for a guy named sergey with a wrench. reality check: spare parts for refineries? good luck. western tech for oil extraction? gone. even the black market cant keep up, and the stuff that does get through is either fake, overpriced, or both.

import substitution is now just a meme. “made in russia” means “hope it doesnt explode.” the regime keeps promising help, but all the regions get is more paperwork and less cash. the only thing trickling down is the misery.

regional budgets are getting smoked. big cities are still pretending its business as usual, but out in the sticks, its a different story. no money for roads, no money for schools, and definitely no money for fixing the busted infrastructure thats supposed to keep the oil flowing.

war grinds on, mood grinds down

meanwhile, ukraines counteroffensive keeps grinding forward. every time a z blogger claims “the front is stabilized,” another russian unit gets smoked near lyman or some other town they cant pronounce. the kremlins answer? more mobilization rumors, more “partial” drafts, more guys getting a one-way ticket to the meat grinder.

but the mood in russia is weird. people are getting used to the shortages, the price hikes, even the threat of being sent to war. levada center polls show fewer people reporting stress or fear, not because things are better, but because everyones numb. its like living in a never-ending hangover: you stop noticing the headache after a while.

the only thing the kremlin exports reliably now is excuses and body bags.

propaganda on repeat, reality on mute

state tv every night: the fuel crisis is “temporary,” the west is collapsing, and russia is about to launch some miracle counter-counteroffensive. meanwhile, telegram is full of videos of empty gas stations, angry drivers, and regional officials doing their best “everything is fine” impression while the city behind them is out of gas.

the best part? the regime still thinks it can bluff its way out. nuclear blackmail, fake peace plans, threats to “freeze” europe - none of its working. the west isnt buying it, ukraine isnt stopping, and even the average vatnik is starting to realize that “special military operation” mostly means “special line at the gas station.”

fall is coming, which means more demand for fuel, more pressure on logistics, and more headaches for anyone who actually needs to get somewhere. the refineries that arent burning are overdue for maintenance, but good luck finding the parts or the workers. the brain drain is real - anyone with a clue is either gone or planning their exit. the regions are broke, the economy is stuck in neutral, and the only thing growing is the list of things you cant buy.

so yeah, day 1667 and russias “fuel superpower” status is about as real as their “second army of the world” marketing. you cant run a country on vibes and propaganda. at some point, even the most loyal z blogger has to admit you cant eat tv slogans or fill your tank with patriotism. but hey, at least the washing machines are still getting “liberated” from ukraine - maybe theyll figure out how to run them on kremlin hot air.

russian normal is now empty promises, empty tanks, and a leadership so out of touch they think “adjusting logistics” means telling people to walk. ukraines not stopping, the sanctions arent going anywhere, and the only thing the regime can mobilize is a fresh batch of excuses. bring your own gas, or just push the lada.
