Let’s talk about “Хроники странной войны” (@nemyrialive), which is basically ...

russian state tv says everything is fine, but if you want the real war diary, you go to @nemyrialive. this is where the receipts live, and trust me, ruzzia is racking up more Ls than a vatnik at a spelling bee. the only thing the kremlin does faster than lose ground is invent new ways to say "all according to plan" while the plan is literally on fire.

the war nobody ordered

we left 2022 behind, but the war keeps mutating like a soviet fridge full of leftovers. blitzkrieg cosplay, "goodwill gestures," meat grinder mobilizations, and now this weird attritional slugfest that even russians call a "strange war." strange because its not the parade they promised, and the only thing moving fast is the spin cycle on kremlin tv, and even that shit is running out of detergent.

igor levin calls this a "bad point." understatement of the year, but at least hes not selling victory parades. the mood is grim, the stakes are high, and the only thing more tired than the soldiers are the excuses. ukraines strategy is simple: survive one day longer than the russians. no grand speeches, no ten-year plans, just outlast the guy across the trench whos wondering if his next meal is a ration pack or a shovel to the head. its not glamorous, but its working a hell of a lot better than whatever "three-day operation" moscow scribbled on a napkin.

one day longer, every damn day

this "one day longer" mantra is not just a meme, its the backbone of ukrainian info space. you hear it from everyone: soldiers, engineers, the dude who built firepoint (ukraines answer to "what if we made artillery smart and russian tanks even dumber"). nobody is waiting for a hollywood breakthrough or a magical counteroffensive that ends the war by friday. its about grinding the invader down, day after day, until the only thing left standing is the side that actually gives a shit about its own future.

meanwhile, on the russian side, the cope is thicker than the mud in bakhmut. every week, z-bloggers and kremlin talking heads invent a new reason why "the west is about to collapse," "ukraine is finished," or "nato is secretly out of ammo." spoiler: the only thing running out is russias supply of working tanks and men willing to die for a washing machine. the propaganda gears are stripped, the story changes every day, and the only thing more flexible than russian war aims is the definition of "success" on russian tv.

the bar for victory is so low, youd trip over it on your way to the conscription office.

the meat grinder and the great escape

lets not kid ourselves, this is not some feel-good underdog story. ukraine pays in blood and nerves every single day. the "strange war" is strange because its not moving fast enough for anyone. the front lines barely budge, the casualty lists get longer, and the worlds attention span gets shorter. russia bet everything on a quick win, now theyre stuck in a war of attrition against a country that refuses to die quietly.

the real comedy is watching the kremlin try to spin this as "part of the plan." remember "kyiv in three days"? now they brag about capturing a tree line outside avdiivka after six months of "heroic" effort. conscription is about as voluntary as a tax audit, and just as fun. every time the front gets wobbly, theres a new batch of "volunteers" who look suspiciously like guys dragged off the street. the only thing more inflated than the casualty numbers is the regimes sense of control.

but heres the kicker: for all the threats, russias biggest export right now is its own people. anyone with a passport and a clue is getting out while they still can. the ones left are too poor, too old, or too brainwashed to notice the regime is robbing them blind. every time a z-blogger posts from his dacha with a toilet in the yard, calling the rest of us "uncivilized," i have to laugh. bro, your countrys main innovation is stealing washing machines from bombed-out apartments. maybe sit this one out.

ukraine adapts, russia improvises excuses

meanwhile, ukraine is not just surviving, its adapting. tech startups in bomb shelters, engineers hacking drones from aliexpress parts, the army running on a mix of nato hand-me-downs and homegrown hacks. every time russia tries to escalate, ukraine finds a way to punch back harder. its not pretty, its not easy, but its relentless. thats what "one day longer" really means: outlast the empire, outthink the regime, outlive the propaganda.

lets not forget the 24/7 war crimes laundering operation on russian state tv. every atrocity gets a fresh coat of "ukrainian provocation" or "nato plot." but the stains keep showing up in un reports, and no amount of rt spin can bleach reality forever. the world sees whats happening, even if half of russia pretends not to. the regimes biggest fear is not nato tanks, its the truth leaking through the cracks in their info firewall.

the rerun nobody wants

so where are we? the "strange war" is stuck in a loop: russia cant win, ukraine wont lose, and the rest of us are watching the worlds worst rerun with the volume stuck on kremlin karaoke. the only thing that changes is the excuses. sanctions didnt collapse the russian economy overnight, but they turned "import substitution" into a national punchline and "made in russia" into a warning label. every new scheme to dodge sanctions is just another way to admit the old ones failed. the regimes answer to every problem is to blame the west, but the only thing the west is guilty of is not sending enough atacms.

in the end, the "strange war" is not strange if youve been paying attention. its what happens when an empire thinks it can bully its way to glory, only to find out the world doesnt run on soviet nostalgia and empty threats. ukraine is fighting to exist. russia is fighting to pretend it still matters. one of those is a lot harder to kill than the other.

so yeah, keep watching @nemyrialive if you want the real story. the clowns will keep dancing, the regime will keep lying, and the war will keep grinding on. but in the end, the side that survives one day longer is the side that wins. and right now, that is not looking great for the guys with the z on their helmets and the toilet in their yard.

russian victory parade this year is just a guy with a shovel, a washing machine, and a story about how he never wanted that village anyway.
